Hey There Tired + Overwhelmed Momma, I Have Something To Tell You

Hey Momma,

Slow down for a minute. Take a deep breath. And another. OK, now…how’s your day going? How is your heart feeling? As much as you do for others, during every waking second it seems, has anyone asked how YOU are doing? Have you done anything lately that made your “love bucket” overflow? If you pause at all before answering, or if you immediately think “nope”, it’s time to change that. Of course your kids are your world. Of course your husband or partner values you immensely, but sometimes, as over-achieving mommas, we get overlooked. So, stick with me for a minute…I have a few things to tell you, in case no one else has.

I see you, despite us having likely never met. I know how tired you are, without searching for the dark circles under your eyes. I know how wild your mind feels, as you race through tackling the logistics of your family through every demanding hour/day/week/month. I hear your silent plea to be noticed, to be acknowledged, to be appreciated.

Overwhelmed Mom

Know this… you’re incredible, you’re unstoppable, you’re the glue that holds your family together. Without you, they’d be lost. Sometimes they might forget to tell you some really important things, even though they probably think about how essential you are, and how grateful they are for you, quite often.

You are amazing in the way you handle the giant responsibility of motherhood {of your career, of home-ownership, of your marriage, of your business} with grace, even while wondering if you’re doing anything right. You are admirable in the way you put everyone else before yourself, even as you long for a moment to feel the weight of it all lift away. You are dedicated in the way you tenaciously handle every obstacle thrown at you, even though sometimes you feel alone in the middle of a crowded room.

You impressively and effortlessly manage so much with so little time, while still making sure everyone is happy, fed, clothed, clean, well-slept and in the right time at the right place. You are doing the work of ten people with only two hands and one mind, heart and soul. Yes of course parenting, for the most part, is a team effort {unless life threw another curve ball your way}… but let’s be honest, women rule the roost and for obvious reason. We are GOOD at it! But it doesn’t mean that it’s easy. It can be SO hard sometimes, often without an offering of gratitude, but day after day we show up and we give 100% because anything less is not an option.

Overwhelmed mom

So please, before you tackle your next to-do list or the laundry pile or a busy day of running the kids all around to who knows where… take a moment to know and realize and BELIEVE in how wonderful you are and how much your family NEEDS you, even in those ugly-cry moments of life {because hey, we know it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows}. Now tighten that cape and take charge of today like only YOU know how to do. You’ve got this. You’re doing a fantastic job.
